At the recent PIANC ANZ AGM we welcomed two new members to our Board, Laurence Benn and Jackie Spiteri.
Laurence is Principal Engineer – Critical Projects for OMC, a maritime engineering company based in Melbourne, and has been active in PIANC YP activities for many years as well as within the new Victorian Regional Chapter. Laurence has several years international engineering management experience, and is expert in e-Navigation technologies. He is excited to be elected to the Board and is looking forward to contribute further to the PIANC mission.
Jackie is the Environmental, Sustainability and Planning Manager at the Port of Newcastle, with a Masters Diploma in Marine Environment Protection from Bangor University in her native Wales. She has combined her environmental science background with an increasing involvement in strategic planning for sustainability and resilience. It was under her watch that the Port of Newcastle became the first port in Australia or New Zealand to commit to meeting global environmental and sustainability standards as set by the International EcoPorts network.
At the AGM we also farewelled Richard Hill, a PIANC Board stalwart for many years, who will remain active in the Victorian regional chapter, and Kate Panayatou who is currently living and working in England. Kate has recently been appointed as the Climate Change champion for EnviCom. We look forward to welcoming her back to PIANC ANZ soon.
