The PIANC NSW end of year event hosted by PIANC at the ARUP Sydney office on November 13th was a positive event showcasing the range of work carried out by PIANC members over the past year.
The evening included three burst presentations on regional projects – which were very interesting, engaging and informative – and provided a great opportunity for the diverse industry to get together in this informal setting.
The event was opened by Shahab Hosseini (GHD) of the PIANC NSW Chapter Committee, who thanked everyone for a good year and encouraged the continued involvement of the members with the organisation.
The attendees on the night included several engineering consultancies, contractors, regional Government bodies and academics. The presentations included insights into the assessment of Sydney Harbour’s wide range of Aids to Navigation (AtoN) presented by Kevin Watte (Royal HaskoningDHV), an overview of the Sydney Harbour Ferry Wharf Upgrade program by Rakhbir Singh (Royal HaskoningDHV) and a forward-thinking view into the future of generative design by GHD’s Harry Mitchell.
Following the talks, the guests enjoyed drinks and nibbles whilst they mingled.
Closing the event, YP Representative Shane Freeman (Mott MacDonald) thanked the organisers Shahab Hosseini, Michael Sanders, Ben Modra, Oliver Davey, and ARUP for use of their premises. He also thanked the members and prospective members for coming, and provided them with a sneak-peak into the exciting events in the pipeline for the PIANC NSW Chapter in 2020.
