Aids to Navigation Project

Port Authority of NSW owns and operates a number of Aids to Navigation (AtoN) throughout Sydney Harbour and Botany Bay. The AtoNs consist of numerous types of structures situated in varying environments with different operating requirements; managing and maintaining these assets requires a broad understanding of many disciplines and engagement with a number of stakeholders.
Sydney Harbour Ferry Wharf Upgrade

The Parramatta Wharf upgrade was carried out as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program. Designed to create a distinctive theme for Sydney Harbour that aims to unify and identify the harbour wharves and ferry commuter transport system. This involves new steel pontoons, hydraulic platforms, gangways –to permit wheelchair access and provide shelter from the weather.

Following the rise of parametric and computational design, generative design tools are being introduced to the AEC industry. GHD along with other design consultancies are exploring how these generative design tools can be utilised to advance the design process.
