Congrats to Shirley Dawe

Huge congratulations to Shirley Dawe, Chair of our highly active and visionary PIANC WA regional chapter, who has been appointed as the AU-NZ Alternate Member for PIANC International‘s Environmental Commission (EnviCom), supporting our Commission Lead, Adam van der Beeke.

PIANC’s EnviCom provides science-based and technical guidance to shape sustainable environmental practices in the planning, design, and operation of waterborne transport infrastructure (WTI) around the world.

Shirley is a marine scientist and environmental consultant with more than 20 years’ experience working across coastal, offshore and marine infrastructure projects in Australia and internationally. She is a Technical Director at SLR Consulting, having recently joined the business following its acquisition of Hydrobiology.

Shirley has a particular interest in fostering industry collaboration and sharing technical knowledge to advance science-based decision-making and environmental best practice, supporting better outcomes for both infrastructure projects and the environment.

“One of the things I’ve always valued about PIANC” Shirley says, “is its ability to bring people together to share knowledge, experiences and different perspectives. Through this collaboration, so much valuable industry guidance has already been developed.

I’m really excited to be part of that community, supporting Adam, learning from international colleagues and helping build on that work to support better outcomes for both infrastructure development and the environment.”

We are excited to have Shirley with us on the PIANC world-building and world-protecting journey!
