Panama Papers and Abstracts Fully Available

All papers presented at PIANC’s 34th World Congress are now downloadable from the new PIANC International website. A complete list of abstracts is also available.  Papers and abstracts are not limited to PIANC members – all interested colleagues may access them.

2018 Congress Theme

The theme of the Congress was “Connecting Maritime Hubs Globally’ with 285 papers presented under six major themes: Inland Navigation, Dredging, Logistics and Infrastructure, Ports, Marinas, and the Environment. Within these major themes, participants delivered talks on a range of sub topics.

Australia & New Zealand well represented

There were over a dozen presentations by PIANC Australia & New Zealand members, who shared their research and expertise particularly within the Ports theme, in the areas of maritime port planning and operations, and coastal engineering. Our region also contributed well in the topic themes of Dredging, and of the Environment.

Working with Nature Recognition

Prestigious PIANC Working with Nature Certificates of Recognition were awarded at the Congress to two Australian projects. Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) were recognized for their restoration of 24 ha of habitat for migratory shorebirds -as part of their biodiversity offset program, and Freemantle Ports were recognized for their very successful new bird sanctuary at Rous Head Industrial Park.
