Call out for new Working Group – WG236 Sustainable Management of the Navigability of Free Flow Rivers

PIANC HQ is calling for nominations from Member National Sections to participate in the following Joint InCom/EnviCom Working Group.

WG236  Sustainable Management of the Navigability of Free Flow Rivers

ABOUT WG236 :There needs to be a change in paradigm and methodologies for navigation in natural rivers.  This WG is dedicated to the improvement of navigability in natural rivers.  It is concerned only with free-flowing currents or rivers in their natural state, entirely or partially, in which the flow is not constrained by any hydraulic infrastructure. The goal is to find ways to guarantee/improve navigability without conventional training structures, concrete, rock etc.

The report is intended to support the growth of inland navigation with reduced investment in river regulation and sustained protection of ecosystem functions of natural rivers.
