Susie Bower, CEO of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ)
Susie’s interesting and diverse professional career has ranged across senior local government management and as an elected councillor, a tertiary education lecturer and now the CEO of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ), one of Tasmania’s key industry groups at Bell Bay.
BBAMZ is an industry-based economic development group that works in collaboration with government and community to support growth, investment and business diversification in the George Town and Tamar Valley regions. At 2,500 hectares in size, Bell Bay is Tasmania’s largest industry precinct and is at the centre of a wide range of new industrial developments across renewable energy, hydrogen and advanced manufacturing. Bell Bay produces 60% of all Tasmania’s manufactured exports and is one of Tasmania’s key economic drivers.
Michel de Vos, GM Assets and Technical Services, Tasports
With responsibility for 11 ports around Tasmania the life of the GM Assets and Technical Services is indeed very busy. Michel took over the job about 8 months ago having previously been the General Manager, Assets and Infrastructure at Napier Port on New Zealand. He now has an appreciation of the enormity of the task. Centrally located in Launceston he is able to access most ports within a few hours.
He uses a combination of inhouse skills, consultants, contractors and suppliers to help get the job done. Come and hear what Michel has to say about issues that Tasmanian ports are facing and the ways that Tasports are able to provide good technical, cost effective solutions.
