Dredging is essential for creating and maintaining our ports, harbours and waterways. As industries increasingly focus on sustainability, there is growing recognition that dredged sediment should be viewed as a valuable resource rather than a waste product. Yet despite increasing demand for scarce resources a significant proportion of dredged material continues to be disposed of rather than beneficially reused.

• Shirley Dawe (Regional Manager WA, Hydrobiology) – an introduction to our current working groups including WG176 Guide for Applying Working with Nature to Navigation Infrastructure Projects

 Speakers:

• Alwin van den Bosch (General Manager, Boskalis Australia) – international examples of sustainable sediment projects
• Adi Fadil (Senior Dredging Engineer, in2Dredging) – Rock dredging, from excavation challenges to beneficial reuse
• Richard King (Dredging and Survey Manager, Pilbara Ports Authority) – Sediment segregation in placement grounds to allow for future reuse

Panel Discussion:

Our speakers will be joined by Damian Tully and Luke Twomey to discuss barriers to achieving the beneficial use of dredging sediments.
