Congratulations Scott Keane – new PIANC Vice-President

Huge congratulations to PIANC AU-NZ’s Scott Keane for his recent appointment as a Vice-President to PIANC HQ’s Executive Committee (ExCom).

ExCom is composed of the President, Secretary-General, four Vice-Presidents and the Chairpersons of each Commission, who meet three times a year.

The Committee ensures the executive management of the Association and monitors the decisions and directives of the Council and the Annual General Assembly (AGA).

Scott, who is the Principal Industry Director – Ports and Maritime at STANTEC Australia, is only the second person from our region to serve on ExCom, following Neil Lawson’s participation as a Vice-President from 2017-2021.

Scott’s presence on ExCom will provide our region with a voice in the central decision making and governance of PIANC, while his extensive experience in academia, port management, shipping, marine systems, and maritime design will greatly benefit the PIANC international community.

Involved with PIANC Australia and New Zealand since 2008, Scott has actively participated in PIANC regional and national events and driven engagement with the South Pacific.  ‘I am excited to champion further engagement with the South Pacific and to supporting initiatives like driving member benefits, and increasing the industry’s global reach and financial resilience,’ he says.

Scott hopes also to encourage increased support for the hardworking volunteers leading the Commissions, and for ongoing support and involvement of the Young Professional network.

As well as serving on the PIANC AU-NZ Board from 2008 to 2024, Scott has been a long-time member of PIANC’s Maritime Navigation Commission where he currently serves as our National Section representative. In this role, Scott nominates participants from our region and has mentored four PIANC working groups in their process and reports. He has also served as a juror on the prestigious DePaepe Willems Award for PIANC’s young professionals.

Huge congratulations to Scott.

L-R: Bumgou Kang, outgoing VP, Scott Keane (VP), Esteban Lefler (PIANC President) and Geert Van Cappellen (Secretary General)
