Welcome to David Ewers – our new Regional Chapter Chair Tasmania
PIANC AU-NZ is delighted to welcome David Ewers as its new Tasmania Chair. A chartered Senior Structural / Maritime Engineer, he has experience in the design and asset management of port structures around Australia. Since moving from Adelaide to Tasmania two years ago for family reasons, he has overseen the growth of WGA’s Hobart office, servicing not only Tasmania’s ports, but also clients across the resources, water and transport sectors.
David has been active in the PIANC Tasmanian regional chapter since his move to the island state, joining the successful local team led by the indefatigable Neil Lawson. This team has successfully established a biennial PIANC two-day seminar for Tasmania, that brings together industry professionals in the state while also attracting others on the mainland to attend and participate.
David is passionate about advancing PIANC’s dual missions of advancing technical knowledge sharing throughout the ports and maritime industry and facilitating networking amongst the engineering community. This is particularly relevant for the Tasmanian chapter of PIANC, given the geographically diverse distribution of ports around the state and the relatively small population of the state that can contribute to a sense of isolation from the national and global engineering community.
David is excited to continue working with the amazing team at PIANC Tasmania to run drawcard events that bring people together and showcase the best of Tasmanian ports and maritime engineering.
Huge shout out and thank you to previous Chair and founding member of the Regional Chapter, Neil Lawson!
