PIANC YP Leadership Breakfast in Brisbane 31 Oct 2023

PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) has organised an exciting series of leadership breakfasts across Australia. Next breakfast is in Brisbane on Tuesday 31 October at 7am.

This event is FREE but registrations are ESSENTIAL.

Hear from industry professionals about their career journey and meet other like-minded YPs. Open to anyone under 40 years of age working in or interested in the ports and marine industry including students.

Guest Speakers: 

Arne Nilsen – Design Director, Aurecon

Arne Nilsen is a leader of Aurecon’s port and coastal engineering practice, with responsibility for technical leadership in these fields across the group. He is a leader in the industry, having involvement on PIANC working groups and currently being part of the Australian Standards Marine Structures code committee.

Arne has been responsible for leading multi-disciplinary study and engineering teams from the development of port facilities including the major expansions of the Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point Coal Terminals, to commuter ferry terminals in Brisbane and Sydney.

Lydia Gentle OAM – Portfolio Delivery Manager, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA)

Lydia is a Fellow and Chartered Civil and Structural engineer with over 15 years’ experience in the engineering, mining and construction industries. Lydia is the youngest Australian to receive Engineering Executive status with Engineers Australia, highlighting her strategic and leadership skills and contribution to the engineering profession.

Lydia has been recognised for her service to engineering after being awarded a Medal of the Order and was nominated for her passion and drive to promote the work of engineers around the world, and her efforts towards encouraging the next generation to take up STEM careers.
