DESCRIPTION:This is the final PIANC Tasmania Chapter event to be held in 2023. The event will start with the technical presentations and be followed with plenty of time to meet your fellow Tasmanian colleagues. \nWe have two very interesting speakers. \nCome and hear from Susie Bower\, CEO of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) and Michel de Vos General Manager\, Assets and Technical Services\, TasPorts. \nThe event starts at 5pm with presentations commencing at 515pm to be followed by networking drinks to 830pm. \nPIANC Members along with non-members are all welcome. \nPIANC events count towards your Professional Development Plan (PDP). \nThis event is FREE but registrations are ESSENTIAL! \nSusie Bower\, CEO of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) \nSusie’s interesting and diverse professional career has ranged across senior local government management and as an elected councillor\, a tertiary education lecturer and now the CEO of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ)\, one of Tasmania’s key industry groups at Bell Bay. \nBBAMZ is an industry-based economic development group that works in collaboration with government and community to support growth\, investment and business diversification in the George Town and Tamar Valley regions. At 2\,500 hectares in size\, Bell Bay is Tasmania’s largest industry precinct and is at the centre of a wide range of new industrial developments across renewable energy\, hydrogen and advanced manufacturing. Bell Bay produces 60% of all Tasmania’s manufactured exports and is one of Tasmania’s key economic drivers. \n Michel de Vos\, GM Assets and Technical Services\, Tasports \nWith responsibility for 11 ports around Tasmania the life of the GM Assets and Technical Services is indeed very busy. Michel took over the job about 8 months ago having previously been the General Manager\, Assets and Infrastructure at Napier Port on New Zealand. He now has an appreciation of the enormity of the task. Centrally located in Launceston he is able to access most ports within a few hours. \nHe uses a combination of inhouse skills\, consultants\, contractors and suppliers to help get the job done. The workshop covered a broad range of aspects related to shore power and its feasibility in the decarbonisation of ports. The workshop was very well received. \nPeter is the Deputy Chair of PIANC AU-NZ. In his day job he is the General Manager of Infrastructure at NSW Ports and oversees the strategic port planning\, development and maintenance of Port Botany and Port Kembla. He has over 20 years experience in the planning\, design and delivery of port development projects. \nThis event coincides with the Board Meeting of PIANC AU-NZ and will be attended by several of the board members.
