SUMMARY:Developments in Offshore Wind - PIANC WA Technical Event 22 March 2022
DESCRIPTION:Developments in Offshore Wind: Perspectives from the construction and research fields. \nPIANC WA hosts Technical talk with networking drinks for all or online – for members only. \nJoin us on Tuesday 22 March for a technical session discussing developments in offshore wind – online (for PIANC members only) and in person (members and non members welcome) in Perth. \nFollowing the talk we will provide drinks for continued networking within the private function area at The Shoe. \nThanks to our sponsor Boskalis this event is FREE for all to attend in person(members and non-members). \nRegister HERE \nPIANC members can also access the session online from 4.15pm – RSVP to be provided an online access link. \nAbout Our Speakers: \nMike Spiers – Boskalis \nMike has been with Boskalis – including SMIT – for approximately 15 years and is currently the Area Manager for the Boskalis Offshore Heavy Lifting business unit. Prior to this he was managing the Boskalis Subsea Services business in the Asia Pacific region offering air & saturation diving services to the Oil & Gas industry. Mike is a registered Professional Engineer who started his career on a missile carrier in the South African Navy and later became a commercial diver. \nJana Orszaghova – University of Western Australia \nJana works as a Research Fellow at UWA focusing on marine renewable energy. She is passionate about the development of sustainable ocean technologies\, and is applying her mathematical and numerical skills to solve challenging and practically important problems in the field of hydrodynamics. She is a Deputy Program Leader of the Offshore Renewable Energy Systems in the Blue Economy CRC. Jana has a PhD in coastal and ocean engineering from the University of Oxford\, UK. \nAbout Our Topic: \nJana will discuss current research into developments and challenges in floating offshore wind farms. Maintaining stability against capsizing\, when subjected to wind\, wave and current forces\, is a key design requirement for the floaters. In this talk she will discuss hydrodynamic fundamentals of these floating structures\, provide an overview of the developments so far and illustrate how our research is contributing towards progress of the industry. \nMike Spiers will expand the discussion to offshore wind developments across floating\, fixed\, offshore substation and subsea-cable installations. Examples from the Boskalis Offshore Energy Divisions wide range of transport and installation contracts will show us the depth and breadth of the latest work being completed around the world. \nThanks to PIANC Corporate Member and Event sponsor

SUMMARY:Coasts and Ports 2021/2022\, held online 11 -13 April 2022
DESCRIPTION:Kei te rangatira\, tēnā koutou.\nA Message from Coasts & Ports 2021 Co-Chairs\nCoasts & Ports 2021 11th to 13th April 2022 \nAs a result of the ongoing challenges in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we have made the difficult decision to make the upcoming Australasian Coasts & Ports 2021 Conference a fully virtual event. \n\n\n\nThe health and wellbeing of all conference participants has always been our utmost priority and given the current situation and advice from health authorities and New Zealand’s shift into ‘red’ alert\, it is not possible to deliver a large-scale in-person event this year. \nWhile it is disappointing to not be able to gather in person at Te Pae\, Christchurch as originally planned\, we are working extremely hard to deliver a unique conference experience for all participants. The conference will be hosted on a premium interactive platform that provides a live online and on-demand experience with rich interactive content. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference will take place online 11-13 April 2022\, however the conference program may look slightly different to what was originally intended.  The virtual program will provide: \n\nAccess to over 150 presentations for the duration of the conference including:\n\nAdditional international keynote speakers\nExpert Panel sessions with knowledgeable and engaging panellists\nA special session on the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption and tsunami\n\n\nThe opportunity to participate in live Q&As with presenters\nNetworking opportunities with other delegates\, speakers and industry\nVirtual activities within the conference platform\nAccess to conference content for on demand viewing (up to 3 months post conference)\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you online. \nNgā manaakitanga. \nDeirdre Hart and Tom Shand\nConference Co-chairs \n\n\n\n
