DESCRIPTION:CLIMATE CHANGE: A DEEP DIVE INTO THE LONG-TERM IMPACTS ON PORTS & NAVIGATION\nThis event was recorded and is now viewable at https://pianc.org.au/resources/webinars-presentations/\nAs we navigate the challenges of climate change\, we often miss the broader and long-term impacts it has on the Navigation and Ports Sectors. \n\nWebinar/Seminar Date: Thursday 28 July \nTime: 3.30 – 4.30pm SA time (ACST)\, 2-3 pm AWST\, 4-5pm AEST \nPlace: Lot Fourteen Lecture Theatre\, Eleanor Harrald Building\,\nFrome Road\, Adelaide CBD\, SA 5000 \nOnline Attendance also available! Register via Eventbrite here:  \nNOTE ONLINE REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSING TUESDAY 26 JULY AT 5PM AEST \nIn this rare opportunity\, PIANC\, WGA and Flinders Port Holdings welcome Australian Climate Change expert\, the Honorary Associate Professor Ron Cox for a state-of-the-art seminar on global weather patterns\, sea-level changes and the storms of the future. \nTake a deep dive into different perspectives while networking with the industry’s most highly regarded experts across government\, academia and private\, including PIANC Chair Luke Campbell and PIANC SA Chapter Members. \nIn this seminar\, PIANC A&NZ Board member Honorary Associate Professor Ron Cox will present the latest in climate change science impacting the navigation and ports sector as well as addressing the issues of mitigation\, risk and adaptation. \nNote Parallel event – NEWCASTLE CBD streaming of this webinar plus networking -register here ! \n \nAbout Our Speaker  \nHonorary Associate Professor Ron Cox has had extensive experience in coastal\, ocean and port engineering\, coastal management\, water supply and wastewater\, groundwater\, climate impacts and environmental impact/risk assessments in these areas\, working with industry and government\, (local\, state and federal) both within Australia and overseas.\n\nIn 2008 Ron was awarded Engineering Australia’s prestigious Sir John Holland Award for Civil Engineer of the Year\, in recognition of his long standing and continuing contribution to the profession and community\, particularly in the field of coastal engineering.\n\nFrom 2009 to 2020 Ron led the Australian Climate Change Adaptation Research Network for Settlements and Infrastructure (ACCARNSI) with a focus on coastal settlements\, built environment\, infrastructure\, urban planning and management.\n\nIn recent years Ron has provided advice on coastal policy reform to Commonwealth and State governments. Since 2013 he has been particularly involved in the Coastal Policy reforms within NSW and throughout 2015 and 2016 was actively involved in the drafting of the new NSW Coastal Management Act (2016) and its supporting Manual. Please refer to ticket types to select in person or live stream options. \nEvent Sponsors:  \nWGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) and Flinders Ports Holdings \n\n\n\n  \nFurther Background: \nThe IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change) has in recent years been active in completing new research and publishing major reports covering science\, mitigation and adaptation\, including: Global warming of 1.5 C (SR15\, 2018)\, Oceans and Cryosphere (SROCC\, 2019) and 6th Assessment Report (AR6\, 2021). \nPIANC has also been active with international working groups completing various climate related reports such as: Environmental Risk Management (WG179\, 2019)\, Carbon Management (WG188\, 2019)\, Resilience (TG193\, 2020)\, Climate Change Adaptation (WG178\, 2020)\, Ecosystem Services (WG195\, 2021). \nThis year PIANC’s own PTGCC (Permanent Task Group on Climate Change) will be releasing an updated report on the earlier Climate Change and Navigation report (TG3\, 2008). Ron Cox is a member of PTGCC and can bring audience members up to date. \n  \n  \n
