SUMMARY:PIANC AU-NZ Workshop: "Decarbonisation of Ports – exploring the Feasibility of Shore Power"\, 14 & 15 Aug 2023
DESCRIPTION:This event is now over but Presentations are now available – download here.\nBrief 2 minute video about the Workshop is here. \n  \nCoasts&Ports 2023 PIANC’s Pre-Conference Workshop \nDecarbonisation of Ports – The Feasibility of Shore Power \nFINAL PROGRAM (7 August) AVAILABLE \n Join us for a workshop to explore and discuss the feasibility of shore power! \nAre you interested to understand the opportunity and challenges of shore power as a potential part of the move to decarbonise port and shipping operations?  Would you like to be briefed by key industry players on the latest investigations and developments in shore power technology?  Would you like to actively contribute with your experience\, knowledge and questions todiscuss and explore this important but challenging issue? If so\, then this workshop is for you! \nRegistration are now open on Coasts&Ports2023 website. Please note that spaces are limited. \nNote that if you have already registered for the Coasts & Ports conference and wish to add on the pre-conference Shore Power workshop\, please email jayne@eastcoastconferences.com.au \nFormat: Face to face workshop. \nSponsors: Cavotec and Hitachi Energy \nDates: 14 (from midday) and 15 (full day) August 2023. Updated and FINAL program (as at 7 August)) now available – download here \nVenue: Maroochy RSL Events Centre\, Memorial Avenue\, Maroochydore \nCosts:  \n\n\n\nPIANC Member\nNon – Member\n\n\nWorkshop fee if also registering for the conference.         $525\n$625\n\n\n\nWorkshop fee if not attending the conference.                  $625\n$725\n\n\n\n\n  \nThe workshop will cover various aspects of shore power. In the context of decarbonisation of the maritime industry\, the workshop participants will engage with shipping lines\, ports\, technology providers\, energy providers and other industry players. International and national perspectives will be shared on the technical feasibility\, challenges and implementation of onshore power supply systems. \nNow that some Australian and New Zealand ports are investigating shore power opportunities\, and others have committed to delivering\, this is the time to re-engage on the topic of shore power. The objective is to inform and listen to the Australian maritime industry players in their consideration of shore poweras part of sustainable port operations. \nThe workshop will be a crossover between a seminar and a workshop\, where technical presentations will be followed by Q&A sessions where active participation will be sought from participants. The workshop will be held before the commencement of the Coasts and Ports Conference\, providing an excellent opportunity to learn from experts in the field and network with industry peers. It will cover a range of topics\, including: \n\nLearnings from international ports and case studies of the installation and operation of shore power systems\nThe likely energy demand\, power profile and uptake by vessels in the Australian trades\nThe technical aspects of shore power systems and integration with port infrastructure and operations\nChallenges and potential solutions related to upfront infrastructure costs\, availability of (renewable) power supply\, and operating costs and models\n\nDon’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn about the latest investigations into the feasibility of shore power to decarbonise Australia and New Zealand port operations. Register now for the workshop and take the next step towards a more sustainable future. Spaces are limited. Speakers will include: \n\nPIANC EnviCom (USACE) and MarCom\nPort of Hamburg\nPorts Australia\nPort Authority of New South Wales\nNSW Port\nPort of Brisbane\nPort of Melbourne\nOil Companies International Marine Forum\nEnergyAustralia\nCavotec\nHitachi Energy\n\nShipping lines\, port authority from Europe\, stevedores\, energy providers\, ports\, insurance\, safety authority\, electrical equipment providers\, engineering consultants\, academia \n  \nHuge Thanks to Our Workshop Sponsors: Cavotec and Hitachi Energy\n

SUMMARY:Coasts&Ports 2023 15 - 18 Aug - Sunshine Coast
DESCRIPTION:Coasts&Ports 2023 15 – 18 Aug – Sunshine Coast Novotel \nAustralasian Coasts & Ports 2023 to be held 15 – 18 August 2023 is an event that will be of interest to any person with a professional interest in the coastal and maritime environments. \nThe Conference will bring together engineers\, planners\, scientists and researchers to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast\, to focus on the technological\, scientific\, policy\, planning and design issues related to our diverse and developing coasts. \nIt will integrate ideas and knowledge among engineers\, port and maritime operators\, researchers and scientists\, local/central government\, maritime manufacturers\, planners and policy makers and media. \nThis Conference will continue to publicise the persisting importance of coastal engineering problems\, incorporating numerous concurrent streams for technical presentations\, half-day field trips and the opportunity to network with colleagues in a vibrant social program including a Welcome Reception\, Conference Dinner\, and other optional activities. \n  \nAbout the Australasian Coasts and Ports Conference \nThe Australasian Coasts & Ports Conference series is the pre-eminent forum in the Australasian region for professionals to meet and discuss multi-disciplinary issues related to coasts and ports. \n50 Years of ideas\, discussions and knowledge exchange\nIn 1973\, two years after the formation of the National Committee on Coastal and Ocean Engineering\, the first Australian Conference on Coastal engineering was held in Sydney. \nIn 2023 we will reflect on 50 years of coastal\, ocean and port engineering in Australasia\, but also look forward to the next 50 years. A period that is anticipated to be characterised by great change. In Australasia as well as around the world\, the increasing impacts of climate change are going to be realised while at the same time much of the existing infrastructure will approach or surpass its design life. \nWorking together – with nature\, with communities\, with other professions.\nAs we now start to develop strategies to adapt\, we must also look forward to how we will embed adaptation ideas and principles in everything we do\, so that we can implement these adaptation strategies at scale. To achieve this\, working together will be critical: working together with the ocean\, with nature\, with communities as well as with other professions. \n50 years from now we want to be able to look back and say that we took what we knew\, implemented big ideas and adapted to the challenges.\nFind out more ON THE CONFERENCE WEBSITE HERE.
