PIANC International Working Group 153B aims to complete “Recommendations for the Design and Assessment of Marine Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Terminals” by 2020. The updated document will provide guidance to owners and designers of oil and gas terminals worldwide, to facilitate the protection of public health, safety and the environment.
Recent years have seen a step change in the attention to the health of the Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Much of the Queensland Port industry has been exposed to significant regulatory and policy change, particularly related to its dredging activities.
The first PIANC Australia event to be held in South Australia recently took place in Port Adelaide. The networking sundowner event, hosted by the Young Professionals Commission (YP-Com), provided a great opportunity for the local coastal and maritime community to get together and learn more about PIANC.
We are happy to announce that the 3rd PIANC YP-Com Asia-Pacific Seminar is to be held in Korea. To show you our inland waters as well as marine port, we have prepared two venues for this seminar, which are in Seoul and Busan.
Five new members joined the PIANC Australia board at the 2018 AGM held on 22 June. Chair Will Glamore was delighted to welcome Luke Campbell (WA), Chris Carboon (Vic), Katrina Dodd (WA), Peter Engelen (NSW) and Kevin Kane (Qld), noting their representative geographical spread across the country, and their impressive collective level of expertise and energy.
